Quick Info
Made by Don Pepin under the Ashton umbrella the San Cristobal Selección Del Sol is the first cigar to have a wrapper from Don Pepin’s Estrella Farms in Nicaragua. The upper label is the typical San Cristobal label with a second bright teal label at the foot. It does have the signature Don Pepin triple cap and is few shades lighter than the Ashton VSG.

Quick Review
After doing some quick research I found that a few reviewers had problems with San Cristobal Selección Del Sol cracking when they cut it. To avoid that problem I just got it wet before cutting and had no issues at all. After lighting which was a little difficult to get lit properly the first few things I noticed from the Selección Del Sol was that it had perfect draw and perfect (huge) smoke volume. The ash did tend to flower badly and the burn was slightly uneven for the first third of the cigar. One thing that is noticeable is how fast this cigar burns but with the smoke volume its pretty understandable. From the first puff I could tell that this was going to be an enjoyable cigar. It was light smooth and refreshing to have a more medium bodied cigar with some great flavors. Toward the end of the second third the pepper notes started to become more prominent but not overpowering. The last third showed some heavy coffee notes just before it got far enough to start burning my fingers and me having to let it burn out. If I had to compare this with another smoke I would say it was very similar to the Don Pepin black label Cuban Classic.
Overall this is a cigar you should go out and try. While it may be considered a little boring in the beginning it is one you won’t put down till you get to the end.
