Today’s Pick – Cubao Maduro Belicoso

I have seen this cigar in many shops and have overlooked it for a while now but after seeing others review it I decided I would give it a shot. I also bought a pretty wide range of Don Pepin cigars last night so even more to come.

History:

The CUBAO is the latest addition to EO brands of premium cigars. The Cubao is also manufactured in Esteli, Nicaragua, exclusively for for United Tobacco, by Pepin Garcia. These cigars comprise an exquisite blend of aged Nicaraguan tobaccos topped with a beautifully rich and oily Ecuador Sumatra Oscuro Wrapper.

Going to keep this to a quick review!

Overview:

This is the first in my Don Pepin pickup that I am doing  a quick review on. I grabbed a few just to see if they were worth the a review and I will say this is a nice little smoke I will be picking up again. The Cubao Maduro Belicoso is a 5 1/2″ x 52 cigar. I am glad I grabbed this one and will have to post a more detailed review soon. It had a nice shade color with a small bit of tooth and a nice sheen. After a small snip and a quick light it had a decent volume of smoke with some strong pepper and leather and hints of cedar. Being the first time I smoked this one I tend to want to ash a little earlier than normal and at 1 1/2″ I cracked it off and it was on there solid. It was on there well enough to probably hit 3″.

Overall:

I am kind of disappointed that I have passed this up so many times before. It was a nice smoke from start to finish and would recommend giving it a try. One thing I would want to do in the future is age this about 6 months to a year before smoking, I think it would make it nearly perfect at that point. For a $9.00 smoke it is a little pricey but if you haven’t tried it before or enjoy peppery cigars this would be a good choice.
